Word of Mouth
7th Grade Chorus
This ensemble is divided into multiple sections and is typically comprised of anywhere between 90-110 seventh grade students (it changes from year to year). The group performs a wide variety of unison or 2-part treble music. All of the classes are taught the music at a similar rate. Students learn to sing with proper vocal technique, expression, and stage presence. In addition, students develop their musicianship by learning how to read and understand music notation and symbols (music theory). The classes combine for rehearsals prior to the mandatory winter and spring concerts. Singers of all levels are welcome. No previous choral experience is necessary.

8th Grade Chorus
Like the seventh grade chorus, this ensemble is divided into multiple sections and is comprised of anywhere between 50-100 (it changes from year to year) eighth grade students. They perform a wide variety of unison, 2, or 3 part music. All of the classes learn the music at a similar rate. Though most of the students in the 8th grade chorus participated in the 7th grade chorus, it is not a requirement. Students who were in instrumental ensembles in the 7th grade now have the opportunity to join the chorus, as well as continue on their instrument. Students continue to further their studies in proper vocal technique, expression, and stage presence. In addition, students continue to develop their musicianship by learning how to read and understand music notation and symbols (music theory). The classes combine for rehearsals prior to the mandatory winter and spring concerts.

Word of Mouth
Word of Mouth is Merrick Avenue's highly select vocal ensemble. It is an after school group that meets every Thursday afternoon from 3:00 to 5:10 with additional after school rehearsals added as needed prior to performances. Students interested in this 18-25 member singing group must go through a rigorous audition process at the beginning of the school year. In addition to the winter and spring concerts, Word of Mouth performs many times through-out the school year within the school and the Bellmore-Merrick community.
